Highlight: Gujarat: For Birding Safari in West India.

Gujarat has unique floral elements, fauna and avi-fauna. The state has diverse habitat profile and one can find saline deserts, large water bodies, blue lagoons, thorn and scrub forest, mixed forests and grasslands. It has many spots destination. The Little Rann of Kutch is the breeding place of lesser and greater Flamingos. Rare Bustards can be seen in Gujarat with ease.

Day 1
Arrive Mumbai

Arrive Mumbai and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2
AHMEDABAD to DASADA.

Land at Ahmadabad airport or rail station in morning from Delhi or Mumbai. Take two hour drive to the Little Rann of Kutch.

Dasada a cattle graveyard is ideal for Vultures: White-rumped, Egyptian and Griffons. The Lodge accommodation is enveloped with wetland, plantations and agriculture fields. Sighting fetches Red necked falcons, Shikra, Starlings, Shikra falcons, Ibis, Great White Pelicans, Herons, and Kingfisher are easily sighted here.

Post lunch jeep safari at Little Rann of Kutch a wild ass reserve. Little Rann is a seabed that was transformed into saline desert during eons. There are small grass patches in Rann which are an excellent habitat for birds. One can see resident and migratory Larks like the Greater hoopoe lark. Find Desert wheatears wintering warblers along with thrushes, Sand Grouse, button quail, Courser, francolins, Chat, redstarts, Rufous-tailed scrub robin, and Buntings in the scrub.

Raptors abound with Greater spotted eagle, harriers - Montagu and Pallid harriers – Aquila eagles, falcon and buzzard. On jeep safaris one can see Blue bulls, caracals, wild ass, Indian gazelle, fox, wolf, hyena, desert cat, hedgehog and nigricoliis hare.

Day 3/4
DASADA

Visit bets in the mornings they are patches of scrub and grass and slightly elevated habitat of Macqueen's Bustards, Buzzard and Raptors.

Reach Nawa Talao at noon for crane sightings – Sarus, Demoiselle and Common cranes, Greater and Lesser flamingos and Pelican. Also see Storks, migratory ducks black, white and glossy Ibis, Small and Oriental Pratincole, Lapwings, Sandpiper and Ruff.

Day 5
DASADA-JAMNAGAR (300 KM 5 hrs)

Meals: breakfast
Morning walk to Dasada village for birding. See Macqueens Bustard, Great Indian Bustard, Yellow-legged Green Pigeon, Steppe and Imperial Eagle, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, chestnut bellied sandgrouse, painted sandgrouse, short toed eagle and more. After the Breakfast we will drive down to Jamnagar birding all long the way. We will rest for some time in luxury hotel and leave for t Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary. This is where we get to see some desert species of India. Here we will see some of the best winged creatures in the two lakes which have marked differences. We will see the Dalmatian Pelican, Black Capped kingfiosher, Spotted Sandgrouse, Common and Demoiselle Crane, Spot Billed Pelican and many more wetland and terrestial avian species.

Day 6/7
JAMNAGAR

The Gulf of Kutch is ideal for bird species as Plover, Sanderling, Oystercatcher, Turnstones, Sandpiper, Gull, Dunlins, Egrets and many more. Time permitting we will go to Lakota Lake for gulls and wintering teals and ducks. Overnight Hotel.

Day 8/9
JAMNAGAR to GIR NATIONAL PARK

We have lunch Port Bandar and good birding in the coastal region – Greater and Lesser flamingo, Terns, Gull, and Cranes. After the lunch move on to the Gir National Park overnight at a jungle lodge

Day 10-12
Gir National park

Gir a mixed association of floral elements - dry scrub, deciduous forests, acacia and grassland. Gir offers sightings of panthers, deer, Sambar, Nilgai, Indian gazelle and wild boars. It is an excellent place to see Crested and Serpent Hawk eagles, and falcons. Bird sighting includes sand grouses, quails, Oriole, Flycatchers, Drongo, Rufus Treepie, Owls, Cuckoos, Barbets, Plum headed parakeet, shrikes, Minivet, Babbler, Prinia, Reed-warblers and tree warblers.

Day 13
GIR-BHAVNAGAR (260 KM 5 hrs)

Stay at Bhavnagar Narayani Heritage. Bird watching at the Victoria Park and Gauri Shankar Lake.

Day 14
Bhavnagar-Velavadar National Park, and Ahmadabad.

Depart for Velavadar NP early morning with packets of breakfast & lunch. Velavadar is habitat of Black Buck antelope and wolf in India. One can also see the Jungle cat, Jackal, Hare and Fox. Birding offers sighting of francolins, sand grouses, Sirkeer malkoha, Swallows, Lark, Kestrel, Aquila Eagle, Falcon, Buzzards, Hobby - Oriental and Eurasian, Pariah Kite, Goshawk and the Stoilczka's bush. Drive back 4 hrs to Ahmedabad for direct flight to Mumbai. Overnight stay at Mumbai.

Day 15
Transfer to International airport for journey back home.
